JAKARTA, November 18, 2024 – Artemis Hospital India participated in the Medical Wellness World Tourism Expo 2024, which took place from November 15th to 17th at the Jakarta Convention Center. The event served as an important platform for Artemis Hospital to showcase its world-class medical services and advanced healthcare facilities. The Indian Ambassador to India was also in attendance, offering his support for the growing medical tourism sector from India to Indonesia.
India has long been recognized as a top destination for medical tourism, offering world-class healthcare at affordable prices. “India has proven to be a fair and reasonably priced destination for medical tourism. Numerous patients from around the world have traveled to India for treatment and have had excellent experiences,” said H.E. Sandeep Chakravorty, Ambassador of India to Indonesia.
The attendance of Artemis Hospital representatives, Anoop Sharma, Chief of International Operations for South East Asia, and Parveen S. Kapoor, President of the Artemis Hospitals Representative Office for Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and South East Asia, brought Indian medical tourism into the spotlight. As awareness grows about India’s top-tier healthcare services, the country is becoming an increasingly popular choice for Indonesians seeking medical treatment, often preferring it over costlier options in countries like Singapore or Malaysia. This is due to the affordability of healthcare in India, while still ensuring high-quality and reliable care. Parveen S. Kapoor, President of the Artemis Hospitals Representative Office for Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and South East Asia, emphasized, “If the two countries can come together, India and Indonesia, it would be something very-very good for both nations.”
Both India and Indonesia face similar healthcare challenges due to their large populations. Both countries need to ensure affordable and accessible healthcare for their people, while also improving local healthcare capacity. Many citizens still seek treatment abroad, putting a strain on foreign exchange. To address these issues, both nations are exploring ways to collaborate, share knowledge, and strengthen healthcare systems through partnerships and joint ventures.
The collaboration between Indian and Indonesian healthcare institutions is advancing significantly, particularly with recent legal changes in Indonesia allowing foreign doctors to practice within Special Economic Zones. This has opened up new opportunities for partnerships. Artemis Hospitals is actively working with various medical tourism companies to enhance healthcare services in both countries and foster stronger bilateral ties.
