Jakarta, January 3, 2025 – Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) has been celebrated on January 9 every year since 2003 to honor the contributions of the Overseas Indian community to India’s development. The 18th PBD will be held from January 8 to 10, 2025. Poonam Sagar, founder of IndoIndians and a prominent community leader, has been nominated by the Indian Embassy and selected by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, to be one of the speakers at the plenary sessions of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas scheduled to be held from 08-10 January, 2025 at Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha state. Ms. Sagar will speak on the topic, “Diaspora Divas: Celebrating Women’s Leadership and Influence – Nari Shakti.” Ms. Sagar has demonstrated remarkable achievements in strengthening Indonesia-India relations through her initiatives. As a key figure behind the IndoIndians community and Chairperson of the Indonesia India Business Forum, she has shown a strong commitment to empowering the diaspora and promoting women’s empowerment.
In her mission to foster closer ties between the two countries, Poonam has led several impactful social and environmental initiatives. One of the most notable is the One Million Trees planting program in Indonesia, aimed at raising awareness about sustainability and showcasing the positive contributions of the diaspora community to the environment. Poonam’s presence at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas underscores her vital role in connecting Indonesia and India and inspiring women to contribute to social and economic development.
