Jakarta, 5 February 2024 (Source: InvestorTrust) – It is said that telecommunications sovereignty in Indonesia is under threat. This is because cellphone imports throughout 2023 are estimated to reach IDR 30 trillion, even though observers say that building a cellphone factory only requires an investment of around IDR 500 billion.
“If I always provide solutions and take action, if it’s only half a trillion, I need political will, then build the factory immediately,” said presidential candidate number 02, Prabowo Subianto in the fifth debate towards the 2024 elections, Sunday (4/2/2024).
Before building the factory, Prabowo considered that Indonesia needed to improve the quality of human resources (HR) first. The reason is that technology problems in Indonesia are often hindered by the capabilities of local human resources.
“We must now educate our children more in the fields of science, technology and mathematics. “This is absolute, only then can we compete, what if we don’t have the crew,” asked Prabowo.
In improving human resources, Prabowo plans to provide 10,000 scholarships for medical education and 10,000 scholarships in the fields of science, technology or engineering, and mathematics.
“We take the smartest from Indonesia and send them abroad, build more STEM faculties in Indonesia and then we seize technology. “And what is important is the political will to build the factory,” he emphasized further.
This answer was Prabowo’s response to Anies’ idea which said it would improve the quality of people and information in Indonesia’s information technology sector. Anies plans to bring in experts to be able to transfer technology together.
“By pairing or partnering. “Second, prioritize investment in the form of labor-intensive investment supported by improving bureaucratic reform and eradicating corruption,” stressed Anies.
He assessed that this would provide job vacancies for local people. Presidential candidate number 01 also said that there are three fundamental aspects, namely access, speed and security, which are his priorities.
“So that way, when we invite people to invest, we will be able to prepare the infrastructure,” said Anies on the same occasion.
