IEF Invites Ministries to Share and Discuss Appropriate Strategies to Realize the First Pillar of the Indonesia 2045 Vision

JAKARTA, 9 August 2023 – With the advancement of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, technological developments have grown rapidly. Great innovations continue to emerge, and adaptability becomes a crucial factor to keep up with technological advancements. Digital skills continue to become important for the workforce to support their productivity in doing their jobs.

“Currently Indonesia’s economic growth is in the range of five percent per year. Unfortunately, this amount has not been able to bring Indonesia to reach the target of a high-income country in 2045,” said Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Economic Affairs, at the Indonesia Data and Economic Conference.

He also stated that Indonesia has the chance to achieve the 2045 vision if the nation can grow by an average of six to seven percent per annum. To achieve this, the government is targeting 80 percent of the population to be in the middle class. It is also important to have the manufacturing industry to reach 28 percent, up from the current 19 percent.

Ministry Roundtable at the Habibie & Ainun Library (09/08)

In order to facilitate communications and discussions on how relevant ministries can further develop digital skills, soft skills, and hard skills of the Indonesian workforce, the Indonesia Economic Forum and the Orbit Future Academy invited five ministries to the Habibie & Ainun Library. Through this discussion, relevant stakeholders are able to formulate strategic recommendations and concrete actions in support of Indonesia 2045 Vision.

This discussion will later be formulized into a white paper by the Indonesia Economic Forum and therefore hopes that it can encourage collaboration in creating an education and training ecosystem that is in line with the needs of the future labor market.

This discussion was attended by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), Commissioner of Indonesian Civil Servant Commission (KASN), and the Ministry of Manpower.
