Jakarta, 5 February 2024 (Source: InvestorTrust) – Presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, admitted that he agrees with presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan regarding the increasingly heavy burden on teachers and lecturers. In fact, the education budget reaches 20%.
Prabowo believes that Anies can provide good answers regarding this education issue because he is a former minister of education and culture (mendikbud).
“In general, objectively, I consider Mr Anies’ answers to be good, good, relevant, I agree with many of these answers. Maybe it’s understandable that he is a former minister of education,” said Prabowo.
Anies responded to Prabowo’s answer by stating, “ready, sir.”
“But, I really agree,” Prabowo added.
In addition to Anies’ statement, Prabowo said that in overcoming education problems, an audit of the current system is needed. Prabowo also mentioned the large number of leaks in the allocation of education funds up to the district level.
“This concerns the mental and cultural problems of many of our officials. So we have to correct ourselves, we have to audit, and wherever there is a system that is not good we have to fix it. We have to have the courage to improve the system that is not good,” he said.
Previously, Anies said that education was the key to making the nation’s life intelligent. However, the problem, said Anies, is that there are tens of thousands of honorary teachers who have not been appointed and millions of teachers who have not been certified. According to him, these problems can be resolved with the principle of responsibility for the welfare of educators.
