JAKARTA, 28 July 2023 – The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry stated that 10 basic infrastructure development packages in the new capital city of Nusantara (IKN) had been completed, including Sepaku Semoi Dam, North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan.
“From the total of 75 packages that we have planned from 2020 to 2024, as many as 37 packages are under construction, then 10 packages have been completed, and the remaining 28 packages are in the bidding process,” PUPR Ministry’s spokesperson Endra S. Atmawidjaja noted in Jakarta, Friday.
Atmawidjaja remarked that some of the development packages had already been completed since the construction began in 2020, such as the Sepaku Semoi Dam which will soon be completed and ready to operate.
This is followed by the Mentawir Reservoir infrastructure whose construction is complete as well as the IKN Logistics Road and the IKN Construction Worker Housing for which the construction work had also been completed, he noted.
Speaking in connection with the construction of other IKN packages, Atmawidjaja said his side is striving to expedite the construction to be completed on time.
“We report that the overall progress in basic infrastructure development for IKN is 18 percent, which is divided into two stages, namely the first stage, with 37 percent progress, and the second stage that just started this year, with progress of only two percent,” he explained.
He noted that the budget allocated for the 2020-2024 period amounts to Rp49 trillion to build basic infrastructure at IKN.
He noted that overall, the work went well, was on schedule, and was conducted in an integrated manner. Physical development to complete the basic infrastructure and facilities in the IKN Central Government Core Area (KIPP) had also been running and on schedule.
“We are strengthening integration for this project since the ministry carried out various development activities for 37 construction packages simultaneously in the same place. This is the first time this has happened in large-scale government projects,” Atmawidjaja remarked.
IKN Nusantara is being built to achieve Indonesia’s target as a developed country, according to the Indonesia Vision 2045. Built with a national identity, IKN will change the orientation of development to become Indonesia-centric as well as accelerate Indonesia’s economic transformation.
