Showcases innovative solutions for decarbonisation, energy efficiency and water management to industries at the exclusive roadshow in Jakarta
Jakarta, Indonesia | February 18, 2025: As Indonesia accelerates its transition to a sustainable future, Thermax, a global leader in energy and environment solutions, reaffirmed its commitment to the region by hosting an exclusive roadshow in Jakarta. The event featured a unique blend of an exhibition and seminar to showcase Thermax’s expertise in clean air, clean energy and clean water solutions.
Indonesia is advancing its renewable energy ambitions under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) strategy. Recognising industries as key drivers of change, Thermax is strengthening collaborations in the region to deliver innovative solutions for energy efficiency, decarbonisation and energy transition. This approach will support industries in contributing to Indonesia’s net-zero targets by 2050.

Thermax Roadshow, held at the Westin Jakarta on February 18, 2025, featured a range of offerings, including:
- Clean Energy and Decarbonisation Solutions: To help industries to transition from fossil fuels to cleaner alternatives such as biomass, industrial waste, green electricity, waste heat recovery, green hydrogen, and bio-fuels for their industrial needs
- Energy Efficiency Mechanisms: Advanced boilers and heaters, retrofit and revamp solutions, energy management interventions and, IIoT-enabled digital technologies to optimise energy consumption and reduce emissions in industrial processes
- Emission Control Systems: High-efficiency air pollution control to support compliance in industrial operations
- Water and Wastewater Treatment: Zero liquid discharge and seawater desalination technologies

Commenting on Indonesia’s energy landscape and Thermax’s role, Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO of Thermax, stated, “Indonesia is one of the fastest-growing countries in the world with significant energy needs. Balancing energy growth with energy sustainability requires technologically advanced solutions and this is where Thermax comes in. Our solutions for biomass-based energy and steam, waste heat recovery, waste to energy and pollution abatement systems, etc., are ideally suited for the market. By leveraging innovation and fostering strategic collaborations with the government, industry partners, and manufacturing sectors, we aim to accelerate Indonesia’s shift towards a cleaner, more resilient energy ecosystem—standing by them as a trusted partner in their energy transition journey.” He further emphasised, “Our commitment to Indonesia goes beyond words. A few years ago, we invested in a factory focused on delivering locally manufactured products with the philosophy: ‘In Indonesia, for Indonesia, by Indonesians’. The plant now has over 100 employees. Last year, we expanded our operations by adding another plant for chemical manufacturing on the same premises. Our plans for future growth include scaling operations and creating more employment opportunities.”
Alongside the roadshow, Thermax hosted a high-impact panel discussion titled “Energy Transition in Indonesia: Balancing Growth, Sustainability, and Accessibility.” Moderated by Taufiq Rahman, Editor-in-Chief of The Jakarta Post, the session brought together distinguished industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability advocates. The panel explored opportunities and practical pathways for Indonesia’s energy transformation. Notable speakers included Dr. Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; Sandeep Chakravorty, Ambassador, Embassy of India, Jakarta; S D Darmono, Chairman & Co-Founder, PT Jababeka Tbk; and Ashish Bhandari, MD & CEO, Thermax.
Thermax has been a trusted partner in Indonesia for over 50 years. Since commissioning its first oil-fired thermal heater in 1971, Thermax has successfully delivered numerous installations, including boilers, heaters, cooling equipment, electrostatic precipitators, other emission control systems, water and wastewater treatment solutions, and power plants. These solutions have supported diverse industries such as food and beverage, edible oil, textiles, and power, to name a few. Thermax operates in the region through its wholly owned subsidiary, PT Thermax International Indonesia (PT TII), and further strengthens its local presence with a manufacturing facility in Banten.
